In a rush? Here's my quickie workout.

I try to do this every morning before I go grab the bus.

10 regular pushups

5 oil riggers on each side 

Oil rigger: Start on your knees in a pushup position. Raise 1 leg and bend your elbows keeping them along your rib cage and try to kiss the floor.

10 regular pushups

5 reptile pushups on each side

I do these on my knees but I’m trying to work up regular pushup position.  In a pushup position on your knees lift one leg to the side (like a dog peeing on a fire hydrant) and press down with the leg in the air.

20 high to low planks

Start in a pushup/tall plank position and bend each arm down to come into a low plank position on your elbows.  Reverse the movement and repeat, remember to keep your core strong and back straight.

10 regular pushups

Hot Yoga

My friend Anna and I did hot yoga this morning, I’m exhausted, it was hard, I forget how tight my hamstrings are even though I stretch every day.  I’m not really a sweaty person so I’m lucky in that respect.

ALSO, I accomplished a goal…I CAN DO A PULLUP!!! I tried last night while I was climbing. Cross that one off my list :-).

I guess I’d like to start a yoga goal list:

Donated Blood

I donated blood between classes today instead of working out.  I haven’t donated blood in awhile because my iron is generally too low but it was more than required this time, which I am going to attribute to the massive amount of leafy greens I eat.  Anyways, I figured I would get rejected but it turned out to be a neat experience.  My temperature was 98.4, my blood pressure 117/78 (very high for me but normal for everyone else, I think it’s because I’m stressed) and my pulse was 48 bpm.  Besides the fact I almost passed out, I felt great about what I did even if I ate some cookies, fruit snacks and pretzels after.  I’m not suppose to do any heavy lifting tonight but I’m going to go climb for a little bit, maybe not as hard as I’d like but I’m going to make it work.

Busy Bee, Gym Rant and Food Journal

Oh my gosh I’m busy, this is going to be rough to keep up during the FINAL SEMESTER OF MY COLLEGE CAREER!!!!  Anyways, it’s Wednesday.  I’ve eaten decent for the week, I went climbing yesterday and did sets of pushups, planks and oil riggers.  I’m going to try to climb again today.  I have a headache and an INSANE amount of homework.  I have 4 hours before my next class and am going to read a chapter in my adolescent lit book and take by ass to the school gym.

I have a list of reasons why I hate the school gym.

1. Baseball players - All the players here seem to be self absorbed assholes, butt slapping and chest bumping in the gym, just what I want to see when I’m concentrating on my form.

2. Squat Racks - Any time I want to squat the bar is insanely high and loaded with weights that are too heavy for me to lift off the bar, on my tiptoes, above my head.  

3. Cardio Queens - there is such a stereo type that females can only do cardio, so much that there are never any machines open.  I don’t even like the dreadmill but it’s a nice warm up.  And I get stared at for even touching a free weight.

Okay, no more excuses.

Here’s what I’ve eaten today,

Oatmeal with blueberries and skim milk

Yogi Detox tea

1 serving (I counted) of parmesean and basil wheat thins

1 serving of prunes (5= 100 calories)

1 serving of dried apricots 

I have with me almonds, cashews, and pistachios an orange and a half of a cucumber and some baby carrots.

This should hold me over until I get home to climb!!!

I’m also doing hot yoga tomorrow with my friend Anna. :)
